Dublin based record label ‘Resume Recordings’ release their debut single, with a little help from the Bronx, New York.

Founded by radio DJ and former 80s Break Dancer, Eric Moore (DJ Laz-E), Resume Recordings has gone transatlantic, uniting the Crème de la crème of New York’s Hip Hop pioneers, with some of Ireland’s earliest scratch DJs, on a recording that’s become the talk of New York’s Hip Hop movement.

MC G.L.O.B.E. (Soul Sonic Force), author of Hip Hop classics, Planet Rock, Renegades Of Funk, Looking For The Perfect Beat, and 80s club smash, Play That Beat MR. DJ, teamed up with Resume Recordings in 2022, to record The Beat Don’t Stop. A DMX drum machine driven Rap cut, with a nod to the 80s Electro Funk genre.

“G.L.O.B.E. and I got talking about Play That Beat, and he reminded me that it was about to turn 40, in 2023. That record had a massive impact on the DJs of my generation. We just had to mark the occasion”, Eric said of the project.

“We finished The Beat Don’t Stop and shelved it immediately, to begin work on some kind of Anniversary tribute. Play that Beat is probably the first Ever ‘call & response’ record between an MC and DJ, so we knew it was going to be Scratch heavy. The original record featured scratching by the amazing DJ Whiz Kid, who was G.L.O.B.E’s musical partner at the time. Whiz Kid has since passed, and Play That Beat is sacred to G.L.O.B.E., so there was no way we were doing a Play That Beat pt 2.”

“G.L.O.B.E. wanted to make it really special, so we called in the big guns. MC Sha-Rock of the Funky Four Plus One. Those guys were Debbie Harry’s musical guest on SNL, when she hosted the show back in 1980. I mean, it doesn’t get better than that. Dj Control was pinching himself during the production sessions. Sha-Rock is the first female MC, period! She’s even got her own Annual Day in New York. I mean, it’s our first release, and we’re working with Hip Hop royalty. And to top it off, we enlisted DJ legends, Cutmaster Jay and former World Scratch Champion, DJ Flip. It really is, a dream come true for us.”

‘Scratches, Cuts and the MCs Rhymes’, was released for download via BandCamp on May 29th, to coincide with MC Sha-Rock Day in New York.
